One of the unique challenges confronting missionary families, especially those living in remote areas, is trying to provide a quality high school education for their children. Often their only options are to send children away to a full-time boarding school or to leave the field. One solution for families is an educational model called Modular Study Groups (MSG).
MSG is a network of schools that exist to provide missionary families an extremely affordable alternative to traditional education while still providing in-person instruction in the core areas of Math, Science, and English. In this model, students from remote locations travel to a centrally located school in their country for intensive modules just one week each month. Students are provided with room and board, along with instruction for the week, and then travel back home to spend the remainder of the month to be with their families. While at home they work on assignments independently but have access to their teachers by email or Zoom.
I have been a math teacher for the past 34 years, and now since retiring from public education, I am joining this one of the MSG schools this fall located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I will be stationed in the states but will fly each month to teach high school math courses for the in-person sessions. During my time at home, I will be available to help my students remotely.
Your prayers and financial support are greatly appreciated.
