Growing up I was blessed to live in Hawaii and attend formative, Christ-centered schools while my parents staffed a Discipleship Training School. I am now headed back to this campus to teach at Wai’aha.
Wai’aha: a Christian school on the University of the Nations YWAM Kona campus. I am teaching math to 6-8th and 10th grades. The school is relatively young, and I am the first to have attended the school and to have returned as a teacher.
The mission of the school is, “We exist to be a Christ-centered ministry where children learn how every subject is designed by our creator. Our goal is to use a variety of methods to reach individual learning styles. We also provide curriculum to adapt to the mobile lifestyles of University of the Nations families. As an international Christian program, we also endeavor to offer a platform where distant learning is a viable option for missionary families who are serving in remote areas.”
My husband Steve and I have just moved here, post college at Calvin University in a step of faith. While I’m volunteering he is working locally in the community as a handyman and working remotely.
We are both excited to see how the Lord will work through us as a married couple in the community in which we are in.
